Locum Contracts Lawyer
South West
£55-60 per hour DOE
Remote Working
A highly reputable Local Authority in the South West is seeking a Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to join their friendly team for an initial 3-6 month period with the potential for extension.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced lawyer with experience of working within local authority to lead the novation of all contracts from a wholly owned company back to the council. This role is pivotal in ensuring a smooth, timely and legally compliant transition that does not disrupt service provision.
Responsibilities for the Contracts Lawyer will include but are not limited to:
- Lead the novation process for all contracts from the wholly owned company to the council by the agreed transition date, including approximately 100 contracts on the main register, SLAs, IT licenses, and school transport supplier contracts.
- Draft, review, negotiate, prepare and complete new contracts, including supply agreements, service agreements, and licensing agreements.
- Communicate with contract providers as required to keep informed, addressing queries, issues or disputes as they raise.
- Follow and feed into the development of the agreed commercial transition strategy. Evaluate contracts to determine the transition approach for each, reviewing each contract's terms and conditions to inform this. The approach may include contract novation, termination, modification or assignment.
We encourage interested applicants to apply immediately to be considered for shortlisting. Alternatively, should you require further information or wish to discuss your suitability before applying please contact Kiran Purewal in our Manchester office for a confidential discussion.
