Job Description:

Sellick Partnership is currently seeking a Major Projects Lawyer (Transport) to join a reputable organisation in Yorkshire. This is a locum role to cover a maternity leave, until at least December 2025.

The successful Lawyer will take a key role in the implementation and delivery of major transport schemes, driving tangible, positive change in the region!

My client is looking for an experienced lawyer who can start on short notice, with extensive experience of at least one or more of the following areas; construction law, contracts and procurement, planning law or CPO.


Responsibilities include:

  • Providing legal advice in relation to the project delivery including the application of the Transport and Works Act requirements (or equivalent), land acquisition and construction contracts;
  • Ensuring internal governance requirements are met by the organisation;
  • Preparation or procurement of appropriate agreements with stakeholders including development obligations and property issues;
  • Advising on legal issues and risk and liaising with other professionals and stakeholders such as lawyers, parliamentary agents, land referencing agents and local planning authorities;
  • In relation to the construction phase of the project: preparing or procuring appropriate legal advice in relation to construction documentation and activity related to the project including negotiating and drafting construction contracts, warranties and appointments or liaising with external advisers or other members of the Commercial Service.
