Job Description:

We are currently working with a Legal 500 ranked firm in Birmingham who is seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate to join their Commercial Disputes team, with a focus on procurement disputes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor junior commercial disputes lawyers.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of clients' legal, commercial, and service needs.
  • Exhibit excellent client relationship and service skills.
  • Provide support and advice concerning public procurement law to clients including central and local government, national agencies, NHS bodies, education institutions, charities, and utility companies, as well as suppliers to the public sector and utilities from SMEs to PLCs.
  • Develop strategies for resolving disputes efficiently and fairly, ensuring clients reach sensible settlements.
  • Be part of a team helping clients achieve effective solutions, maintaining a focus on the legal merits of each case.
  • Contribute to the firm's contentious profile, utilising both internal and external platforms to build your professional profile and grow the practice.

Candidate Profile:

  • A minimum of 6 years' PQE as a commercial litigator, with a background in a city or large national/regional firm.
  • Proven expertise in high-level procurement disputes, with a track record of handling complex matters.
  • The ability to manage your cases and clients, taking responsibility for both.
  • A demonstrated ability to grow the practice and support junior lawyers, with emerging experience in business development.
  • While procurement disputes will be the main focus, we welcome candidates with broader experience in general commercial litigation matters.
