Education Lawyer - SEND Specialist

***OUTSIDE IR35***

Full Time/Part Time

Remote working

Sellick Partnership are seeking an experienced SEND Education Lawyer to join a large local authority on a locum basis. The role is expected to last at least 6 months initially, with a possibility of extension.

The Local Authority are looking for an experienced Education Lawyer who can hit the ground running and handle a caseload of SEND tribunal matters.

Daily duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Advising upon and preparing cases in relation to SEND cases
  • Appearing on behalf of the Council before the SEND Tribunal
  • Advising on Education law generally, including the preparation of proceedings in relation to Schools and Academies, parents and pupils.
  • Provide updates, training and advice to clients.
  • Handle a substantial caseload, often working to strict deadlines and on short notice.

Applicants must have demonstrable experience in SEND Education matters, having worked at Lawyer or Solicitor level, providing high level advice on SEND Education matters. Although prior experience within Local Government would be preferred, it is not essential.

The successful Education Lawyer will ideally be able to undertake this role on a full-time basis, however candidates seeking a more flexible working pattern will be considered.
