Locum Prosecutions Solicitor (Part-Time)

West Midlands | £55–£60 per hour | ASAP Start | 9-Month Initial Contract

A local authority in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Locum Prosecutions Solicitor to join their legal services team on a part-time basis to support with an increased prosecutions workload.

The role

• Managing a varied local authority prosecutions caseload

• Conducting court advocacy 

• Preparing cases for hearing, including reviewing evidence and liaising with officers

• Court attendance only – no remote advocacy or office attendance required

• Working as part of an established legal team with administrative support

Contract details

• Initial 9-month contract, with potential for extension

• ASAP start (or short notice considered)

• Part-time hours (to be agreed)

• Competitive rate of £55–£60 per hour, dependent on experience

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales

• Demonstrable experience handling prosecutions within a local authority or similar public-sector setting

• Confident and experienced court advocate

• Able to attend court in person across the West Midlands
