Locum Procurement & Contracts Lawyer – 30 Hours per Week – Outside IR35 – Local Authority
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently supporting a Local Authority who are seeking an experienced Procurement & Contracts Lawyer to assist with the implementation of the Procurement Act 2023 and support major commercial projects.
Role Overview:
Position: Locum Procurement & Contracts Lawyer
Location: Hybrid working – Office attendance negotiable
Hours: 30 hours per week (flexible pattern considered)
Rate: Competitive hourly rate – can be Outside IR35
Duration: Initial 3 months, with a strong possibility of extension
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal leadership on the roll-out and practical implementation of the Procurement Act 2023
Advise on and draft commercial contracts relating to major ongoing and upcoming projects
Work closely with procurement, legal and project teams to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risk
Support internal stakeholders with training and strategic legal advice around procurement reform
Ensure good governance and commercial value in all contractual arrangements
Requirements:
Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (or equivalent)
In-depth knowledge of public procurement law and commercial contracts
Experience advising on complex or high-value public sector projects
Familiarity with the evolving public procurement landscape and legislative reform
Local government experience is advantageous but not essential
