£45,750 - £57,402 plus a Golden Hello Payment - £3,000
Full of energy and culture, Waltham Forest is a progressive and innovative borough with a Legal Service to match. We provide our diverse client departments with the best possible service through our highly skilled professionals. As a Lawyer in Adult Social Care, you’ll bring your expertise to our Families Team at a Council that cares about its community. If you’re looking for an exciting new role, this could be your ideal opportunity.
As part of the Adult Social Care legal team, you will deal with a wide range of adult social care and community care matters, including court of protection proceedings. Ideally, you’ll be equipped with advocacy skills in order to represent the Council before the courts, particularly in court of protection proceedings, but this is not essential.
More important, is your ability to manage a varied community care caseload, dealing with court of protection proceedings, ordinary residence disputes and providing legal advice and assistance to our Adult Social Care department. To join us, you must be a qualified solicitor, barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with considerable experience and PQE in adult social care/community care law.
We are looking for professionals with excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, and a real dedication to the job. You will work within a friendly, welcoming and supportive team where your professional development will be nurtured and appreciated.
With the drive to meet deadlines, you’ll be able to work flexibly. And, with your commitment to the role, you’ll have what it takes to change lives for the better, right across our borough.
Please note that this role is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Equal Opportunities
Waltham Forest is a diverse borough where diversity is valued and is integral to both, service delivery and employment of its staff. The Council is proud of its rich mix of communities and as the largest employer in the area, it works hard to respond to the changing needs of its population. We use our statutory duties on race, gender and disability equality and best practice in respect of age, faith and sexual orientation to ensure equality of opportunity in the workplace.
The Council is committed to meeting its 4 equality objectives:
- Promoting equality of opportunity
- Opposing all forms of discrimination, intolerance and disadvantage
- Ensuring our workforce reflects the diverse communities of Waltham Forest at all levels.
- Providing fair, appropriate, accessible and excellent Services to all. Respecting Diversity is a core Council value.
To support the above and reduce the risk of bias in its recruitment activities, the council is operating an anonymous shortlisting process, which hides personal information that can identify individuals until their application has been considered for shortlisting. The council also operates a scheme whereby, for jobs graded up to and including scale SO2, internal candidates are considered first.
This includes those candidates who self-identify as having a disability for the purposes of the Disability Confident scheme. For more information, please refer to our
recruitment and selection policy.
