£52,805 - £57,175 per annum

As Head of Information Governance, you will lead a dedicated team and drive Bolton Council’s strategic approach to data protection, transparency, and information governance, as well as act as the Data Protection Officer for Bolton and Salford Cares. You’ll oversee key projects, shape policy, and ensure compliance with legislation while advising senior leaders and representing the Council on high-level IG matters. This is a pivotal role where your leadership will directly influence how information is managed, shared, and protected across the organisation.

About You
You’re an experienced professional with strong leadership skills, a relevant postgraduate qualification, and a deep understanding of data protection and information rights. You’re confident influencing at a senior level and passionate about using data to improve public services. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of both legislative requirements and best practice standards in relation to information assurance, information rights, records management, data standards and open data. You will be able to apply that knowledge to deliver information assurance and governance in a complex organisation with a wide ranging and varied data landscape. Alongside experience of generating performance reporting and open data strategies, you will have experience of leading, developing and motivating a team with strong communication and team work skills.
