£41,511 - £52,805 per annum
A market supplement of 15% for 12 months is available to senior lawyers, who will be lawyers with substantial experience and knowledge in this area of law.
Hybrid office arrangements are available, allowing working from home and office.

We are seeking to appoint a lawyer/senior lawyer to join our busy and highly professional legal team practicing in complex employment matters, special educational needs, education law, civil litigation, prosecutions, information governance and elections law. The focus of this role will be on employment law.
The main responsibilities of this role:
- Be a qualified solicitor or barrister entitled to practice in England and Wales or fellow of the chartered institute of legal executives.
- Be able to exercise professional judgment and make all day-to-day operational decisions on allocated matters and cases in the context of legal advice and representation to the instructing client and provide advice and assistance to Council officers and members.
- The post holder is expected to influence and negotiate with contacts both internal and external to the Council. Contacts will include officers at Chief Executive level and below, elected members, Courts, Tribunals and regulatory bodies of staff, private practice solicitors and barristers and other professionals involved in the area of work of the Education, Employment and Litigation Law Team.
- To act as a case holder and, where appropriate, advocate in the Employment Tribunal, specifically in providing professional legal services in relation to employment law to the Council’s Departments but also in providing professional legal services on matters of education and litigation law as may be required.
