We are recruiting a planning lawyer.  Fast-paced and part of a highly performing team, this requires someone with enthusiasm and dynamism to handle a wide-ranging caseload.

With office locations in Southampton, Fareham and Havant but predominantly delivered through fully flexible mobile working, the Southampton, Fareham & Havant Legal Partnership is an outcome-focused service recognised for its dedication to improving the communities in which we live and work and delivering professional excellence. We provide strategic and professional advice and services covering all aspects of local government law.  The Partnership has expanded to include Havant Borough Council and has a number of new opportunities as a result.

About you:

The Council is looking for a practising Solicitor, Barrister or Lawyer with excellent knowledge of planning law. The role will provide support to three local planning authorities.  It will entail transactional, advisory and litigious work, including s.106 agreements, planning enforcement, development management and policy.  Development in the team’s other areas of practice such as regeneration, environment, highways, traffic, rights of way and common land will be expected, supported and encouraged.  You will need strong drafting, negotiating and advisory skills and competence with IT and case management systems and an enabling, positive approach to finding solutions to complex problems as well as the ability to anticipate and adapt to business and client needs and to appreciate risk management issues, working flexibly across a multi-skilled team.

The Council has a fully flexible working system that includes home/hybrid working (some office based meeting attendance required), with adaptable working hours subject to meeting our clients’ needs. The current salary range is up to £55,648  plus benefits which include:
