Job Description:

Locum Civil Litigation and Housing Lawyer

Sellick Partnership is actively seeking an experienced Locum Lawyer to join one of our long-standing Local Authority clients on a 3-6 month + locum contract.

The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload across housing litigation, public law and local government matters. The role includes advocacy, legal advice and close working with client departments to deliver practical, high-quality legal support.

Duties will include:

  • Leading on housing disrepair matters
  • Conducting possession litigation under the Housing Act 1985
  • Advising on anti-social behaviour (ASB) matters, including ASB injunctions and possession proceedings
  • Advising on debt recovery and enforcement matters
  • Drafting letters before action, pleadings, witness statements, settlement agreements and enforcement documentation across housing, leasehold and debt recovery matters
  • Advising on homelessness matters, including pre-action correspondence and potential Judicial Review challenges
  • Working closely with senior officers, client departments and external Counsel to manage complex litigation, enforcement action, debt recovery and public law risks

We are looking for a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with litigation rights/rights of audience, who are confident managing a varied caseload and representing the Council in court where required.
