Locum SEN Lawyer | 3–6 Months+ | Remote Working | Home Counties
 
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Locum SEN Lawyer to join a well-regarded Local Authority in the Home Counties. This is a flexible remote working role (once IT equipment has been collected). The position offers a highly competitive hourly rate and strong potential for extension.
 
The Position:
  • Contract Length: 3 months + with strong potential for extension
  • Working Pattern: Full-time preferred (part-time considered for suitably experienced candidates)
  • Location: Home Counties
  • Working Arrangement: Remote working
  • Rate: Up to £65 per hour (Umbrella), dependent on experience
 
Key Responsibilities
 
You will manage a varied and interesting SEN/Education caseload on behalf of the Local Authority, including:
Advising senior officers and councillors on complex SEN/Education Law matters. 
  • Dealing with all aspects of appeals to the SEND Tribunal, which includes drafting responses to appeals, instructing expert witnesses and conducting advocacy
  • Assisting with any other Education or SEND matters
  • Reviewing case papers and establishing the merits of cases and reviewing and complying with SENDIST Orders
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to progress appeals and with the legal department where they have been instructed
  • Receiving expert advice and carrying out discussions with witnesses and parents/ guardians
 
About You
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or fully qualified Legal Executive
  • Demonstrable experience in SEN, ideally within a Local Authority setting
