About the Adult Social Care Lawyer position:

Sellick Partnership is thrilled to be supporting a Local Authority in Essex with recruitment for a permanent Adult Social Care Lawyer.

Our client is recruiting for a full-time, permanent lawyer to join their friendly and supportive Legal Services team. The successful Adult Social Care Lawyer will be able to undertake this role on a hybrid working basis, with office attendance required for 2 days per week.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive, friendly and forward-thinking Local Authority, who are looking to expand their permanent team.

Responsibilities of the Adult Social Care Lawyer:

  • Provide legal advice on the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Mental Health Act, including associated regulations and guidance
  • Advise and conduct litigation in relation to ASC matters, including handling applications relating to Community DOLs, section 21 applications, S21A challenges, S16 welfare proceedings and care proceedings, displacement of nearest relative applications and judicial reviews
  • Make applications for finance and property deputy-ship and authority to sign or surrender tenancies
  • Advise on displacement cases, safeguarding and financial matters along with reviewing of draft policies

Experience required for the Adult Social Care Lawyer:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive
  • Prior experience gained within Adult Social Care
