Locum Planning Lawyer (Committee Cover) – 6-10 hours per week – Midlands – Initial 3 Month Contract – Up to £60 per hour UmbrellaVenn Group’s specialist legal team are currently recruiting for a Locum Planning Lawyer to provide Planning Committee cover for a Midlands based Local Authority on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Planning Lawyer to join a supportive Local Authority legal team.
The Role:Duration: Initial 3 months with likely extension thereafter
Working Pattern: Part Time, approximately 6–10 hours per week, reviewing reports remotely with in-person committee attendance
Rate: Up to £60 per hour Umbrella dependent on experience
Start: June/July Start
Role Responsibilities:• Providing legal support in relation to Planning Committee matters
• Attending and supporting pre-meetings prior to Planning Committees
• Reviewing Planning Committee reports and associated documentation
• Advising officers and members on planning law matters and committee procedures
• Supporting with general planning law queries as required
Candidate Requirements:• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with prior Local Authority Planning Law experience
• Previous experience supporting Planning Committees is essential
• Strong understanding of planning law and committee procedures
• Ability to work independently and provide pragmatic legal advice
