Job Description:
£59,990 per annum + Grade Allowance of £3,000
We are looking for an experienced Contract and Procurement Lawyer with a proven track record in public sector work to join our Legal Services Team. Whether you’ve worked directly in local government or in private practice supporting public sector clients, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to some complex and high value matters.
The Council is also preparing for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR). This role will play an important part in supporting the Council during this period of change and transition.
You will support the Council’s work by providing clear, practical and timely legal advice on contracts and procurement matters, interpreting different contractual documents, supporting the Council’s services, projects and priorities, including work arising from LGR. You will handle a complex and varied caseload, advise senior officers and will have excellent legal drafting, negotiation and communication skills. You will have the ability to manage legal work across teams and projects and you will have a proactive and collaborative approach to working with internal stakeholders and external partners, including LGR workstreams.
As well as advising on compliance with public procurement legislation, policies and best practice, you will help Officers understand legal risks and options so they can make informed decisions.
The successful candidate will be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister. Experience in a local authority or public sector environment is desirable but not essential.
