Locum Commercial Contracts Lawyer – Midlands Based Council – Full Time – Initial 3 months+ – Up to £60 per hour umbrella


Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently recruiting for a Locum Commercial Contracts Lawyer to join a Midlands based Local Authority on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to gain further experience within an established Local Authority.


Role Details
Working Arrangement: Full-time, Remote working
Rate: Up to £60 per hour umbrella
Start: As soon as possible


Role Responsibilities:
• Advise on, draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial contracts, including agreements for services, goods, frameworks, and construction matters
• Provide legal support and guidance on procurement processes, ensuring compliance with regulations and Council policies
• Work closely with procurement and internal teams to identify, assess, and mitigate legal and commercial risks
• Supporting a team of five lawyers across general commercial and procurement and construction related matters


Candidate Requirements:
• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (or equivalent) with experience in Commercial and Procurement Law
• Experience within Local Government or the public sector is highly desirable
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload
