Job Description:

Locum Adult Social Care Lawyer – Local Authority – South West – Full Time – up to £65/hr Umbrella
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Adult Social Care Lawyer to join a Local Authority in the South West on an interim basis, to start in May.
The ideal candidate would be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with previous Local Authority experience. You will be handling a mixed general caseload, including DOLs, CoP, S21As, etc., conducting advocacy and possibly some supervisory/managerial duties.
Duties may include the following:
·         Manage a busy caseload of adult social care litigation matters
·         Handle Court of Protection cases, including Section 21A and welfare applications
·         Provide clear, written legal advice on a variety of matters including:
·         Care Act
·         Mental Capacity Act
·         Section 117 Mental Health Act
·         Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders across the Council
·         Draft legal documentation and undertake advocacy where required
·         Liaise with external counsel and other relevant bodies
·         Support and contribute to team management where appropriate
·         Keep up to date with relevant legislation and provide training or updates to colleagues as necessary
An hourly rate of up to £65 via umbrella is offered for this position (possibly with the view of going above). This role offers remote working flexibility, ideally with occasional attendance preferred.
