Locum Trading Standards Solicitor – 3 months + – Full/Part Time – Predominantly Remote Working – Up to £60 per hour Umbrella – Midlands
 
Position: Locum Trading Standards Solicitor
Organisation: Midlands based Local Authority
Duration: 3 months with the possibility of extension thereafter
Working Pattern: Full or Part Time hours can be considered
Working Arrangement: Predominantly Remote, with occasional Court attendance when required
Hourly Rate: Up to £60 per hour Umbrella
 
The ideal candidate will have at experience in handling Trading Standard and Enforcement work in Local Authorities.
 
Duties may include:
  • Prosecutions and Litigation: Initiating criminal proceedings for offenses such as fraud, selling unsafe products, counterfeit goods, and underage sales.
  • Advising on Investigations: Advising TSOs on the legality of investigations, including the use of surveillance and undercover techniques.
  • Enforcement Actions: Drafting, reviewing, and enforcing legal notices, such as suspension notices, improvement notices, and prohibition notices.
  • Warrant Applications: Applying to the courts for warrants to enter premises by force,, or to enter residential dwellings.
  • Case Preparation: Preparing evidence for court proceedings and managing case records.
  • Proceeds of Crime (POCA): Undertaking financial investigations to confiscate assets acquired through illegal trading.
