Locum Committee Officer – South West – Hybrid Working – 3+ Months – £30 Umbrella
 
Venn Group are currently working with a South West Local Authority who are seeking a Locum Committee Officer to support their Committee and Member Services team with the operational delivery of the Council’s governance and decision-making processes.
 
The Role:
Position: Locum Committee Officer
Organisation: South West Local Authority
Duration: Initial 3+ months with the possibility for extension
Rate: £30 per hour via umbrella
Working Pattern: Full-time hours, predominantly remote working with office attendance required for committees
 
Role Responsibilities:
  • Providing committee services to the Council, Cabinet, Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Regulatory Committees and other Council bodies
  • Organising and attending meetings, both in person and online
  • Preparing agenda, minutes, action sheets and decision notifications
  • Researching and preparing reports as required to support the work of the Committees and other bodies for which the Committee Officer is responsible
  • Preparing and implementing Agenda Management Plans for the Committees and other bodies for which the Committee Officer is responsible, and ensuring that these plans are circulated to and actioned by all those within or external to the Council who are submitting items and reports
  • Project managing the agenda management process for the Committees and other bodies for which the Committee Officer is responsible
  • Providing procedural advice as required to the Committees and other bodies for which the Committee Officer is responsible
  • Preparing and providing briefings and briefing notes as required for the Chairs of the Committees and other bodies for which the Committee Officer is responsible
  • Undertaking performance monitoring and general record keeping as are required to support the effective operation of particular Council bodies and of the Committee and Member Services Team generally
 
Candidate Requirements:
• Previous experience working within Committee Services
• Experience supporting committee meetings within a Local Authority environment
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
• Excellent communication skills with experience liaising with Councillors and senior officers
