Locum Planning Lawyer – Midlands Based Council – Hybrid Working – 12 Month Contract – up to £65 per hour Umbrella

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently recruiting for a Locum Planning Lawyer to join a Midlands based Local Authority. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Planning Lawyer to take on a longer-term interim assignment supporting the Council’s planning team on a range of matters with a focus on advising on the Local Plan.

The Role:
Position: Locum Planning Lawyer
Organisation: Midlands based Local Authority
Duration: 12 month contract
Rate: Competitive hourly rate (umbrella)
Working Pattern: Full time hours, hybrid working with office attendance required in the Midlands

Role Responsibilities:
• Providing planning law advice to the Council on a wide range of planning matters
• Advising on issues relating to the Council’s Local Plan, including policy development and related legal considerations
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating Section 106 Agreements and other planning obligations
• Supporting Planning Officers and senior stakeholders with legal advice on planning applications and development matters
• Advising on general planning law matters including planning policy, development management and enforcement issues where required
• Providing pragmatic and solution-focused legal advice to support the Council’s planning objectives

Candidate Requirements:
• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (or equivalent) with proven experience in Planning Law
• Experience advising within a Local Authority environment is highly desirable
• Strong experience advising on Section 106 Agreements and planning matters
• Experience advising on or supporting work relating to Local Plans would be advantageous
• Ability to manage a varied caseload independently and provide clear, practical advice to stakeholders
