Electoral Services ManagerFull-Time, Temporary - 36.25 Hours per Week 3-6 Months Contract We are delighted to be supporting a Council in the East of Englans to recruit an Electoral Services Manager on a full-time, temporary basis however, part-time (30 hours) can be considered. The council is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Elections Manager to lead and manage the Council’s Electoral Services Team. This role is critical in ensuring the effective delivery of all statutory electoral functions for the authority.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, manage and support the Electoral Services Team, ensuring statutory duties are fully met in line with all relevant legislation and Electoral Commission guidance.
- Oversee the compilation, maintenance and supply of the Register of Electors
- Act as the Council’s technical expert on all matters relating to elections and electoral registration.
- Manage and deliver the Annual Electoral Canvass, ensuring compliance and high-quality data.
- Support the Returning Officer in the planning, organisation and delivery of elections
- Lead on associated duties including Community Governance Reviews, Polling District and Polling Place Reviews, and other statutory or non‑statutory electoral projects.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong working knowledge of electoral law, regulations, and Electoral Commission guidance.
- Demonstrable experience delivering elections and maintaining the electoral register within a local authority setting.
- Proven team leadership and the ability to motivate, manage and develop staff.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan ahead, work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with a commitment to electoral integrity.
