Locum Litigation Lawyer – 3 months + – Full Time/4 days – Hybrid Working – Up to £60 per hour – East of England
Position: Locum Litigation Lawyer
Organisation: East of England based Local Authority
Duration: 3 months with the possibility of extension thereafter
Working Pattern: Full Time/ 4 days
Working Arrangement: Hybrid working
Hourly Rate: Up to £60 per hour Umbrella
The ideal candidate will have experience in handling Housing/Regulatory matters and can demonstrate prior experience working on behalf of Local Authorities.
Duties may include:
  • Housing Litigation: Handling statutory reviews for homelessness decisions and housing allocations under the Housing Act 1996
  • Handling work such as injunctions, possessions, Anti-Social Behaviour, Caravan enforcements and closure orders
  • Civil Litigation & Advocacy: Representing the Council in court, drafting legal documents, and negotiating on behalf of the authority
  • Enforcement Actions: Managing enforcement for environmental issues, planning breaches (including,, but not limited to, noise abatement and listed buildings), and, occasionally, trading standards or health and safety violations
  • Employment & General Advice: Providing legal support on employment law issues and general council business
  • Regulatory & Criminal Matters: Handling prosecutions related to licensing, fraud, and motoring offences
  • Compliance & Risk: Ensuring decisions align with statutory responsibilities and assisting with compliance audits
