Locum SEN & Education Lawyer –
South West – Remote Working – 3 Months + - £55-£60ph UmbrellaVenn Group’s specialist Legal team is recruiting for a Locum SEN & Education Lawyer to join a reputable local authority in the South West. This is a locum role for an initial term of 3 months and is subject to likely extension thereafter. Our client is ideally recruiting on a full time basis, but requests for part-time hours and condensed working weeks may be considered.
For this position, candidates must be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive.
Duties and responsibilities for this post may include:
- Holding own caseload of SEND matters
- Dealing with SENDIST appeals to conclusion, including tribunal attendance on behalf of the local authority
- Dealing with challenges in relation to provision, placement and the LA's refusal to carry out an assessment of a child's special educational needs.
- Advising on amendments to a provision in the statement,
- Advising on suitable placements in respect of a child's special educational needs.
- Dealing with claims for Judicial Review
- Dealing with Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman complaints
- Dealing with client enquiries relating to EHCP and SEND matters
- Assisting in the review of policies
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SEN & Education law gained within a Local Authority and will be confident to jump straight in and assist the team in what has proven to be a busy period. An hourly rate of up to £60 via umbrella is offered for this position.
