Democratic Services Officer

Rate: £250 per day umbrella (Locum / Interim)

Location: East Anglia - Cambridgeshire

Working: Hybrid (one day a week in office ideally)

About the Democratic Services Officer role:

Our client, a Local Authority based in Cambridgeshire, is seeking a Democratic Services Officer on an interim basis for an anticipated minimum period of 3-6 months.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with prior experience in democratic or member services.

The successful Democratic Services Officer will be able to work full-time (or 4 days per week) remotely, in addition to attending once a week.

Responsibilities of the Democratic Services Officer role:

  • To provide specialist advice and support to the Council and its directorates regarding the decision-making process.

  • To provide essential committee and governance support, which includes agenda planning, convening meetings, decisions and recommendations to the Executive and Council for regulatory and scrutiny functions.

  • To offer advice to the elected members and senior management.

  • To support the continued maintenance of the Forward Plan and have excellent knowledge of Issue Manager system.

Experience required for the Democratic Services Officer role:

Although prior experience within Democratic Services would be preferred, candidates with a strong background in administration, including minute-taking, will be considered.
