About the role
Building on the success of our current team and in recognition of the resources required to provide an outstanding service, we are seeking an experienced Litigation Solicitor to deal with the provision of legal services, advice and assistance relating to a breadth of contentious casework, including criminal and civil litigation, education law and licensing.

The role requires at least 3 years PQE in conducting contentious casework, specifically civil and/or criminal litigation, to ensure the experience and expertise of the successful applicant.

This role is based at our modern head office which will allow you to perform to your very best. You’ll have our full support throughout your work in an environment in which you can thrive. This includes the opportunity to develop your professional expertise across a breadth of casework, which will primarily include acquisitions and disposals of land, landlord and tenant work and providing advice to Council members and officers.

The Litigation and Practice Management team provides advice, representation, and guidance to all Directorates across the Council, this is a challenging role and a fantastic opportunity to join the Legal Services Team.

About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic Litigation Solicitor with post qualification experience. Previous local government experience is desirable but not essential. You will be keen to develop your existing experience especially in relation to criminal and civil litigation.

You need to be a Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive Advocate and hold the relevant certificate to practice.

It is important that you have excellent communication, team-work and relationship building skills. In this role you will need to use your initiative, be flexible and driven to deliver an excellent high quality service; demonstrating a real commitment the role and the Legal Services Team.
