Locum Commercial Contracts Lawyer – Up to £65 per hour (Umbrella) – Initial 3 Months – Hybrid or Fully Remote Working

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are working with a well-regarded public sector organisation who are seeking an experienced Commercial Contracts Lawyer to join their team on a locum basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support a forward-thinking authority on a range of commercial, procurement and construction matters, with flexibility for fully remote working.

Role Overview:

• Position: Locum Commercial Contracts Lawyer

• Location: Hybrid or fully remote (with first day attendance preferred)

• Duration: Initial 3 months, with potential for extension

• Rate: Up to £65 per hour (Umbrella)

• Hours: Full time preferred; part time considered

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting, negotiating, and advising on a variety of commercial contracts

• Providing legal support on public procurement matters and ensuring compliance with the Procurement Act 2023

• Advising on subsidy control and data protection issues

• Supporting with construction-related contracts, including JCT/NEC drafting and advice

• Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver practical, risk-based advice

Requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (or equivalent)

• Proven experience in commercial, procurement, or construction law

• Strong knowledge of subsidy control and data protection frameworks

• Ability to work independently and communicate confidently with senior stakeholders
