Locum Commercial Team Leader – Up to £65 per hour (Umbrella) – Initial 3 Months – Hybrid Working
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are working with a well-regarded public sector organisation seeking an experienced Commercial Team Leader to join their legal department on a locum basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior lawyer to lead a busy commercial team, supporting high-value projects and ensuring the effective delivery of legal services.
Role Overview:
Position: Locum Commercial Team Leader
Location: Hybrid working – first day attendance required, followed by weekly office presence (desirable but not essential)
Duration: Initial 3 months with potential for extension
Rate: Up to £65 per hour Umbrella
Hours: Full time preferred
Key Responsibilities:
Leading and managing a team of commercial lawyers, including allocating and supervising workloads
Providing advice on complex commercial contracts and procurement matters
Supporting senior officers with key governance and risk management decisions
Overseeing contract negotiation, drafting, and resolution of high-value or sensitive matters
Ensuring the team meets organisational priorities and maintains excellent service standards
Requirements:
Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (or equivalent)
Extensive experience in commercial, contracts, and procurement law
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members
Strong communication, drafting, and stakeholder management skills
