Interim Commercial Solicitor
Reference: J89570
Location: East Midlands (Hybrid – Weekly Office Attendance Preferred, but not essential)
Duration: 3 Months (Starting Early October)
Rate: Up to £55 Umbrella
Venn Group is pleased to be partnering with a Local Authority in the Midlands who are seeking an experienced Contracts Solicitor to provide interim support following the unexpected departure of their current locum.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Solicitor with a strong local government background to step into a varied and high-impact role, supporting key council functions in housing, regeneration, and construction. Within this role, procurement advice is not required, except in relation to contract procedure rules.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Drafting and advising on JCT and NEC construction contracts
  • Drafting grant funding agreements and contracts for services
  • Providing advice on framework call-offs, including CCS and SCAPE
  • Reviewing officer reports and advising on contract procedure rules and associated governance
  • Ad-hoc advice on matters such as contractual debt recovery, procurement challenges, and contractual disputes
Requirements:
  • Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 5 years PQE
  • Previous local government experience is essential
  • Strong understanding of public sector contracts, governance, and frameworks
