Locum Childcare Solicitor
Location: West Midlands (local authority)
Contract: Locum, starting imminently
Hours: Flexible (c. 1–2 days/week in court, remainder in office)
Rate: Competitive

About the Role
A local authority in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced childcare solicitor to join a small, collaborative legal team on a locum basis. You’ll support a mixed caseload of childcare matters, working closely with social work colleagues and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on care and supervision proceedings and related applications

• Prepare court documents and bundles

• Represent the authority in family and children’s hearings (c. 1–2 days/week)

• Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders

About You

• Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with solid childcare/family law experience

• Confident advocate with excellent drafting skills

• Able to work independently and as part of a close-knit team

• Available to start within the next fortnight
