About the Role:
Sellick Partnership is looking for a Monitoring Officer and Head of Democratic and Electoral Services to join a Local Authority on an interim basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected team.
Key Responsibilities of the Monitoring Officer and Head of Democratic and Electoral Services include:
- The organisation and management of the democratic and electoral functions of the local authority
- To take an active role in delivering Corporate and Service Specific Policies and Strategies
- To work in collaboration with the local authority's services as well as public, private, and third sector partners
- To ensure the local authority's Corporate Plan is delivered to maximum potential
- Dealing with member complaints
- Attending full cabinet meetings
Key Skills and Experience of the Monitoring Officer and Head of Democratic and Electoral Services :
- Significant experience leading a democratic and/or elections service
- Previous experience as working as a Monitoring Officer
- Previous experience working in the public sector/local authorities
- Previous experience working in a political environment, understanding political processes and competently managing politically sensitive issues
- Experience planning, delivering, and managing projects
- Significant understanding of legislation and standards relevant to Electoral and Democratic processes
- Efficient leadership and management skills
- Ability to analyse and present complex information to a wide audience
Our client is offering hybrid working with one day a week in the office, however they can be flexible for the right candidate.
