Monitoring Officer and Head of Democratic and Electoral Services

Hybrid Working

£700-900 per day

About the Role:

Sellick Partnership is looking for a Monitoring Officer and Head of Democratic and Electoral Services to join a Local Authority on an interim basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected team.

Key Responsibilities of the Monitoring Officer and Head of Democratic and Electoral Services include:

  • The organisation and management of the democratic and electoral functions of the local authority
  • To take an active role in delivering Corporate and Service Specific Policies and Strategies
  • To work in collaboration with the local authority's services as well as public, private, and third sector partners
  • To ensure the local authority's Corporate Plan is delivered to maximum potential
  • Dealing with member complaints
  • Attending full cabinet meetings

Key Skills and Experience of the Monitoring Officer and Head of Democratic and Electoral Services :

  • Significant experience leading a democratic and/or elections service
  • Previous experience as working as a Monitoring Officer
  • Previous experience working in the public sector/local authorities
  • Previous experience working in a political environment, understanding political processes and competently managing politically sensitive issues
  • Experience planning, delivering, and managing projects
  • Significant understanding of legislation and standards relevant to Electoral and Democratic processes
  • Efficient leadership and management skills
  • Ability to analyse and present complex information to a wide audience

Our client is offering hybrid working with one day a week in the office, however they can be flexible for the right candidate.
