An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Litigation Solicitor to join Dorset Council’s Legal Services team on a temporary 3-month basis. As a Litigation Solicitor you will support the team in handling Education Prosecutions and related litigation matters. This position will primarily involve managing a caseload in education-related prosecutions
- Handle education prosecutions and other litigation cases on behalf of the Council.
- Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders.
- Draft legal documentation and undertake advocacy in court as required.
- Liaise with external counsel and other relevant bodies.
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation and provide training or updates to colleagues as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive.
- Strong litigation experience, ideally within a local authority context.
- Experience in education-related prosecutions.
- Excellent advocacy, communication, and drafting skills.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
