Job Description:

We have a current opportunity for a Coroner's Investigator on a contract basis. This a great role for a junior legal professional to gain some hands on experience and further develop their CV.

This is a 6 month post and the position will be full time hours (37 each week) and is a hybrid role, based in the office Monday - Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at home, but need to be flexible for hearings.

The role will involve investigating unexpected or unnatural deaths to assist HM Coroner in establishing the cause of death by gathering, securing and presenting evidence ensuring all relevant legislation is complied with.

You will work from a case management system, picking up cases from the initial contact, assessing these to determine what route the case will go down.

Daily duties may include:

  • If required/requested will order a postmortem
  • Liaising with funeral directors
  • Supporting with the paperwork
  • Attending and organising hearings
  • Liaising between all parties

You need to be:

  • Emotionally intelligent
  • Understanding when speaking with families
  • Accurate and display attention to detail
  • Able to manage time efficiently and deal with competing priorities
