We have an exciting opportunity for a lawyer (qualified solicitor, barrister or CILEX equivalent) who thrives on a varied case load, to join our busy and supportive team of legal professionals in a litigation focussed role. You’ll find significant opportunities to develop your profile and skills, playing an important role in delivering positive change and benefits to our local community.

The caseload includes conducting litigation in the criminal courts/tribunals and providing associated advice to Council departments including support to the education team and at committees. No two days are the same, you’ll enjoy interesting work and significant opportunities to attend Court. We have the benefit of a modern cloud-based case management system allowing significant work from home as well access to legal resources, including practical law. Your ability to manage cases independently is crucial whilst you’ll also work closely with various Counsel and our team of experienced lawyers on more complex matters.

We are open to all levels of post-qualification experience and some expertise of working within or for local government, particularly in Wales, is advantageous as well as experience in litigation or education law. However, training and support can be provided to the  right applicant, so if you are a lawyer with transferable skills as a capable legal advocate who is highly organised and a team player  with a flexible and helpful approach to delivering legal advice - please do apply!

Welsh speaking and writing skills are desirable.

As one of the largest employers in Flintshire, we offer a minimum of 34 days’ (pro rata) annual leave including bank holidays,  increasing up to 41 days (pro rata) • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme • Generous family friendly and work-life  balance schemes • Hybrid working (role specific) • Access to a range of development opportunities • Free employee assistance  programme (EAP) • Cycle to Work Scheme • Discounts across UK retailers.
