Job Description:

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority in the South West, who are recruiting for an Assistant Director of Performance & Policy, to join the team on an interim basis for 6-months initially.
 
The role offers hybrid working with 50% office attendance required, and the rate is in the region of £500 p/day UMB (open to negotiation).
 
The ideal candidate will have experience in acting as an advisor to the Council’s Strategic Leadership Team, senior officers and elected members including Cabinet.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):
  • Overseeing the development and operation of the Council’s corporate performance framework, aligning service delivery and improvement with financial performance and risk management
  • Ensuring compliance with GDPR, Data Sharing Agreements, Information Asset Registers, Risk Assessments, Data Quality Policies, and supporting statutory reporting and bench marking
  • Developing the Council’s Strategic Plan and an annual corporate plan, leading engagement with Directorates to establish organisational improvement priorities and lead the production of an Annual Report
  • Leading the Council’s response to national policy development and consultations, including engaging with MPs, public sector system leaders and Senior Leadership Team
  • Providing strategic and operational leadership to a range of corporate projects and programmes, providing insight and expertise to drive improvement and performance
  • Delivering high level strategic and operational advice and recommendations to Directors, the Senior Leadership Team and elected members of policy areas, identifying opportunities for income generation and savings
  • Overseeing high-performing data and intelligence projects, systems, processes and reporting tools, to support statutory and quality inspections across the Council’s services
 
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
  • Substantial leadership experience of performance, data and intelligence systems, strategy, policy development, and management of operational services at a senior level
 
Working hours:
  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday
