Job Description:

Locum SEND/Education Solicitor

Up to £60 per hour umbrella or limited company (Outside IR35)

15 hours per week

6 months initial contract

Fully remote working available

Panoramic Associates is working with a local council based in the South West to recruit a Locum SEND/Education Solicitor who will provide expert legal advice on education and SEND matters.

This role offers fully remote working however, if candidates are happy to attend in person hearings this would be the only in person attendance that would be required & is not an essential requirement for the role.  This role is offered on a part-time basis of approximately 15 hours per week, therefore would be great for someone currently in a part-time role looking for another position 2 days per week or for someone in a full-time role looking for additional hours to be worked across the week on a consultancy basis.

The contract is for an initial 6 months, with the potential for extension, and the council is looking for someone who can start promptly.

Main Responsibilities (will include but are not limited to):

  • Advising on Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) matters and general education/schools queries.
  • Handling judicial reviews, tribunals, and appeals remotely, with in-person attendance if feasible (not essential).
  • Supporting the council’s legal team with expert guidance on complex education-related issues.

Essential Experience:

  • A qualified solicitor with expertise in SEND law and general education legal matters.
  • Experience advising on judicial reviews and representing clients in tribunals and appeals.
  • Strong ability to manage a varied and complex caseload
