£47,216 - £54,462 per annum

As one of England’s 10 National Parks, the New Forest offers a unique and truly outstanding environment in which to progress your career.

We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Solicitor to join the New Forest National Park Authority team, to provide us with a high-quality legal service and to perform the statutory Monitoring Officer role.

You will provide legal advice across the organisation, with a particular focus on Planning, where you will advise Officers and Members on a wide range of development management, planning policy and enforcement issues. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to some of our non-statutory work in furthering the National Park purposes. As the Monitoring Officer, you will attend various committee meetings to ensure decisions are taken at the correct level of delegation and that we operate in a legally compliant way.

We are looking for a qualified professional with strong communication and organisational skills which are integral to the success of this role. Ideally, you will have a proven track record of providing legal advice in a local government setting.

Based in Lymington, we support flexible working with a blended mix of office and home working. We also offer a range of other benefits including a generous contributory Local Government pension, paid professional membership fees and plenty of training and development opportunities.

This role is full-time, but we will also consider part-time applicants on a job share basis.

To apply, please refer to the documents on the right and complete an application form. CVs are not accepted.
