Locum Prosecutions Lawyer

London Local Authority

Locum Contract

Hybrid Working Arrangement

A large and well-established local authority in London is seeking an experienced Criminal Litigation Lawyer to join them on a locum basis, this is a 3 month contract initially that is likely to be extended.

The Prosecutions Lawyer will need to hold a caseload of:

  • Licensing
  • Planning enforcement
  • Disabled badge fraud
  • Housing Act 2004 appeals
  • Regulatory cases and tribunals

The successful Prosecutions Lawyer will have prior experience of line managing a team and will be a specialist in criminal litigation law. Prior local authority experience is advantageous, and you must be a qualified Lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister, CILEx).

This is a hybrid role with office attendance required 1 day per week, and court attendance as required. Attendance at licensing committees is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Qualified Lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive)
  • Extensive criminal litigation and/or licensing experience
  • Management experience
  • Experience working in local government or in a firm that deals with such work (strongly desirable)
