Job Description:

Job role: Deputy Monitoring Officer - £850 – needs 4+ years of experience as a DMO

Client: Westmorland & Furness Council

Contract Length: 6 Months

Rate: £850 per day

Job location: Remote, some attendance in Kendal/Penrith/Barrow may be required

 

Part Time would be considered, but ideally need someone full time

 

Full caseload, complex governance, and deputy monitoring officer matters, ideally qualified solicitor/CILEx/FILEx. Familiar with reviewing and advising on the constitution, key decisions, council and committee reports, and officer decision records.

Experience of acting as deputy monitoring officer or monitoring officer in a local authority.

At least 5 years’ post-qualification experience or equivalent experience.

Must be able to hit the ground running, working independently on a caseload of 25+ matters.

Must have awareness and experience of working in local authority and governance requirements.

 

Varied caseload of governance matters, including advising on the council’s constitution, local government law, and practice. Providing advice to officers on officer decision records and officer key decision records, as well as committee, cabinet, and council reports in accordance with the council’s constitution, law, and practice.
