Job Description:

Our client is currently recruiting for a locum Governance Lawyer on an initial 5-month contract.
 

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The daily rate is up to £500 p/day, via an Umbrella company, dependent on experience and PQE.
 

The ideal candidate will have experience working within local government, and have strong experience drafting constitutions and dealing with complex structures.

 

Duties will include (but are not limited to): 

  • Researching and analysing legal issues, interpret laws, rulings, and regulations related to the constitution
  • Corresponding and negotiating with government departments
  • Preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda on constitutional and governance issues
  • Advising clients, governmental bodies, or other entities on the constitutionality of laws, regulations, or actions
  • Presenting and summarising cases to leadership team, elected members, government officials and judges

 

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Local Government
  • Experience drafting constitutions and dealing with complex structures
  •  

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week, potential for part-time hours
  • Monday – Friday
