Locum Regulatory Lawyer – 3 Months + – Predominantly Remote Working – £55 per hour Umbrella – South West

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Regulatory Lawyer to join a reputable South West Local Authority on an interim basis. This position is offered for an initial term of 6 months, with any extensions to be agreed thereafter.

This is a full time position, to start as soon as possible. The role involves predominantly remote working, with monthly attendance at hearings preferred.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with prior Local Authority experience. This role involves handling a varied caseload with a focus on regulatory, licensing and enforcement work.

Duties may include:

  • Mixed Litigation being Civil and Criminal enforcement
  • Focusing general regulatory and enforcement matters, including housing (possessions and injunctions), ASB, homelessness and disrepair claims, unauthorised encampments, environmental health and trading standards
  • Drafting relevant documents both in civil, regulatory and criminal legal proceedings
  • Advising on requests for information
  • Drafting summons, indictments, case summaries and disclosure requests
  • Authorising and presenting cases before the Magistrates and County Courts

An hourly rate of up to £55 per hour Umbrella is offered for this position dependent on experience.
