Job Description:

Locum Principal Litigation and Licensing Lawyer – 3 months + - Predominantly Remote Working – Full Time – Up to £60 per hour – Home Counties
 
Position: Locum Principal Litigation and Licensing Lawyer
Organisation: Home Counties
Duration: 3 months +
Working Pattern: Full Time
Working Arrangement: Predominantly Remote Working, office attendance once a week or fortnightly depending on court commitments.
Hourly Rate: Up to £60 per hour Umbrella
 
The ideal candidate will have prior experience working within a Local Authority and can demonstrate knowledge of Litigation, Prosecutions and Licensing matters.
 
Duties may include:
  • Undertake all aspects of Prosecutions and Licensing proceedings in Magistrates Court and associated appeals
  • Conduct advocacy in relation to trading standards PSPO/CPN breaches, environmental standards prosecutions as well as adverse possessions, valuations under the Localism Act
  • To provide Licensing advice to the Licensing Authority, act as Legal Adviser including Committee attendance including taxis, street trading and gambling licenses
  • Advise Council on powers available to tackle anti-social behaviour and to draft and issue relevant proceedings in the Magistrates and/or County Court
  • To take a lead on, review and interpret new legislation and advise officers of the impact of those changes on their relevant departments
