£44,711 - £48,710 per annum

Applications are invited from an enthusiastic, innovative, suitably qualified and experienced FCILEX, Solicitor or Barrister to work in our Contracts and Commercial team.
 
The successful candidate will be expected to draft and negotiate commercial agreements and have a knowledge of construction contracts and disputes (mainly NEC). You will require a knowledge of public law procurement. You are able to work remotely with occasional office attendance. You will be expected to conduct and manage your own caseload under supervision.  You must be able to communicate effectively with members, senior officers and outside agencies. 
 
Purpose of the post:
  • To provide legal advice and support to the Council, its Chief Officers and such other associated bodies as are deemed necessary by the Chief Legal Officer,
  • Organise and control your area of professional expertise with minimal supervision
  • To work collaboratively with other legal hubs providing support across litigation work areas and across the wider legal team.
  • Assist with the mentoring, coaching, professional supervision and development of junior staff
  • To work with client departments on a preventative basis with a view to avoiding litigation where necessary.
  • To assist the Lead Lawyer and relevant client departments on process and policy development
