Job Description:
£35,880 - £43,878 per annum
This is a unique opportunity to work for an institution that unlocks creative potential and provides opportunities that transform lives through education, research, innovation, and enterprise. The University of Southampton, with over 23,000 students and 6,000 staff, is a key member of the Russell Group of universities and a leading research institution with strong links to industry and commerce.
As a Legal Adviser, you will assist senior legal advisers and the Director of Legal Services and the Legal Services team, working at the heart of the University, in providing high quality, robust and timely advice across the University’s activities but primarily focussed on contractual matters as they arise in our supply chain and education partnerships. Your work will always be varied – no two days will be the same.
As a qualified solicitor, or legal executive with experience gained in-house or in private practice, you will have had good general training in commercial or contract law. You will be self-sufficient and capable of working independently within agreed parameters, proactively seeking input from senior colleagues as needed, able to work to deadlines and conflicting priorities within a team environment.
Benefits include a generous annual leave entitlement, a supportive working environment and access to an excellent pension scheme.
Informal inquiries may be addressed to Joanna Wilson, Senior Solicitor.
As a university we aim to create an environment where everyone can thrive and are proactive in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect and equality of opportunity. We believe that we can only truly meet our objectives if we are reflective of society, so we are passionate about creating a working environment, in which you are free to bring your whole self to work. With a generous holiday allowance, as well as additional university closure days, we are committed to supporting our staff and students and open to a flexible working approach.
