Planning and Highways Lawyer

Part time - 24 hours per week

Location: East Anglia

Rate: £50 - 60 per hour (Interim/Umbrella)

Working: Hybrid

About the Planning and Highways Lawyer Role:

Sellick Partnership are looking for a senior lawyer to work within the planning team of a reputable local authority for 24 hours per week; flexible working. We are looking for someone specifically to support in planning and highways law on behalf of local government.

The post is around 24 hours per week. Assignment is most likely around 6 months in duration, initially covering leave, but there is a strong possibility that this will be extended to around 12 months.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Planning & Highways Lawyer to join a supportive team on a predominantly remote working basis around other consultancy work that they have ongoing.

Key Responsibilities of the Planning and Highways Lawyer role:

  • Handling a diverse caseload of planning and highway matters
  • Providing advice on a wide range of planning matters including highways
  • Drafting and negotiating Planning agreements such as section 106 agreements
  • Drafting and negotiating Highways agreements such as Section 278 and Section 38 agreements respectively
  • Up to date with current and recent relevant legislation and case law
  • Knowledge and Experience in Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Agreements in conjunction with the S106 Agreements

You will also be required to attend committee meetings once every two months.

The local authority is looking to hire a Planning and Highways Lawyer who demonstrates:

  • The ability to work autonomously on your own matters
  • Strong highways experience
  • Local authority experience is essential
