Job Opportunity: Coroner Support Paralegal

Location: West Midlands
Duration: 3-6 Months (with potential extension)
Working Arrangement: Hybrid (2-3 days in office per week)
Hours: Part-time (either as 3 full days or worked flexibly over 5 days)
Rate: Competitive, Dependent on Experience

Are you a detail-oriented legal professional looking for a unique role that offers both challenge and flexibility? A West Midlands based Local Authority is seeking a Coroner Support Paralegal to join their legal team for an initial 3-6 month period. This hybrid role offers part-time hours, with 2-3 days required in the office each week.

Key Responsibilities:
Witness Interaction: Welcoming witnesses into the inquest room, guiding them through the process, and accurately recording inquest sessions.
Diary Management: Coordinating the schedules of the Senior Coroner and other coroners within the department.
Legal Administration: Drafting documents, inputting data, and performing essential legal admin tasks.
Case Liaison: Working closely with Case Progression Officers to prepare and upload reports for the Coroners.
Family Communication: Engaging with family members to discuss Coroner’s reports and ensuring notes are accurately uploaded to the case management system.
This role is ideal for a paralegal with previous legal support or administrative experience, particularly those with an interest in Criminal Law and the workings of Local Government. Strong computer literacy and drafting skills are essential.
