Locum Contracts Lawyer – Greater London – up to £60 per hour – Hybrid Working
 
Position: Locum Contracts Lawyer
Organisation: London based Local Authority
Duration: 3 months with the possibility for an extension
Working Pattern: Full time
Working Arrangement: 1 day per week office attendance
Hourly Rate: Up to £60 per hour (dependant upon experience)
 
Venn Group’s specialist public sector legal team are in partnership with a well renowned legal team within a Local Authority to recruit a Contracts Lawyer to take on some project work
This is a role which is open to all levels of contracts lawyers and experience vs hourly rate is something the Council will take into account. This role is open to Qualified Solicitors, Barristers of Fellows of CILEx who can demonstrate experience of handling contracts within the public sector
Duties shall include:
  1. Contract Management: Handle procurements for repairs, major works, and various other contracts, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards
  2. Legal Advice: Provide expert advice on public procurement regulations, construction law matters, JCT building contracts, contracts for goods and services, frameworks, and local authority governance
  3. Review and Guidance: Attend departmental contracts review boards to review contracts and provide necessary guidance and recommendations
  4. Documentation: Ensure all contract documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and compliant with legal and regulatory requirements
  5. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective contract management and procurement processes
It is thoroughly encouraged that candidates with knowledge of some areas of this but not all, and the type of people looking to expand their legal repertoire, apply for this role
 
The role of Contracts Lawyer comes with a competitive hourly rate  and gives the right candidate an opportunity to grow their overall legal expertise. Local Government experience is preferable but not essential provided there is significant public sector contracts experience
