Job Description:

Due to a vacancy and a short term absence in my clients team, they need a temporary lawyer with 3+ years qualified experience Civil/Criminal Litigation.

The candidate will need experience of local government criminal litigation (prosecutions in the magistrates’ court), giving legal advice to licensing committees, and dealing with subsequent appeals and must be able to attend court in Midlands and attend the office on occasions to attend/advise licensing committees.

The main area of work will be dealing with prosecutions for offences under trading standards, environmental health, health and safety, licensing, housing standards and other legislation. They will also provide sound legal advice to meetings of the Council and its committees. They will take instructions, issue proceedings, take statements and conduct advocacy in the magistrates’ court. They may also assist in other litigation matters.

 

They:

• are a Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with rights of audience;

• have good, recent advocacy, drafting and negotiation experience;

• are a good communicator;

• can work on their own initiative and as part of a team;

• give clear, practical advice;

• have recent experience of working within a legal setting;

• are a flexible team member, and;

• can manage their own caseload and meeting deadlines.

The client needs a full time candidate initially, 37 hours 5 days per week.
